There are very few genres of music
that I don't enjoy. What follows is my selection of artists whose music
I tend to listen to and buy first. Some of them I've had an opportunity
to meet in person and others to work with in one way or another. BTW,
if you enjoy listening to midi music while you're surfing the Net, you
might find my midi juke box entertaining.
John Anderson
From the first time I heard it, I couldn't
resist singing along to John Anderson's Siminole Wind. I received
the CD the song was released on for my birthday in 1992 and it remains
one of my favorites. In 1995 I got to see him perform live. What an
entertainer he was!
Steve Barta
I first heard Steve's music in 1993
when I visited his exhibit at the New Mexico Arts & Crafts Fair.
I found his style immediately relaxing, even as I listened to a cut
from one his CD's, standing in the middle of a crowd.
Michael Bolton
I own most of Michael Bolton's popular
works published on CD. My favorites are his duos with Kenny G.
Jimmy Buffett
The first time I heard his music was
in the 70's when I was living on the Oregon Coast. On October 18, 1997
I will finally got to see him perform live — at the MGM Grand in Las
Vegas. What an adventure that was! Before the event was over, we had
spent almost $500 in his promotional paraphernalia. It wasn't until
this concert that I learned Jimmy Buffett was also an actor.
Neil Diamond
I've been a Neil Diamond fan since
the 60's but the highlight in my life when it comes to memories of him
was when I met him at Casey's Bar & Grille back in 1973. He was
such an "ordinary" person that it was hard to imagine him as the giant
as he becomes in front of an audience. I'm sure I'm not alone in my
opinion that he is not only one of the world's greatest writers
to have been around in my lifetime, but one of the most talented performers
as well. I particularly enjoyed his acting
work in the 1980 rendition of the Jazz
Singer.
