According to my mother, I scribbled my first real masterpiece when I was two. I sewed my first garment all by myself when I was four. At nine I told my family I wanted to be an artist when I grew up. I wanted to design clothes, dishes and jewelry and I wanted to teach the world how I did it all. A pretty big goal set for a nine year old. As life has turned out so far, I've been able to dabble in just about all of my dreams but for the most part, my biggest aspirations as a youth turned into hobbies as an adult. I think that is probably because I've always felt it my responsibility to be able to support myself and my experience has been that sharing my knowledge of leading-edge technology is more profitable than expressing myself as an artist.

I seem to go through spells of creative urges. During the Christmas holiday season in 1998 my creative energy was running high. I decided to decorate my home and make new ornaments. My favorite places to visit to get help with ideas and sources for supplies are Michaels and Hobby Lobby. I also watch Aleene's Creative Living on the Nashville Network whenever I get a chance. Fortunately, these sources all have web sites now:

My favorite place to visit on Michaels site is their Craft Projects page.

Did you know that March is National Crafts Month? Each year the Hobby Craft Association organizes special events to celebrate hobby crafts in America. For more information, visit their web site at
