Add-On Boards
It's rare to buy a computer that doesn't
need at least one add-on board to complete all the tasks you had in
mind when you purchased it. Here is where I track the vendors for some
of the add-on boards I've had to purchase.
Sound Cards
In 1998 Digicom
Systems introduced the Soundblaster Live! Environmental Audio line.
I picked one of the cards for my webmaster system that September and
a Live Value edition for my admin system in April 1999. The main difference
between Live Value and the standard version is that Value does not include
all digital i/o features and extra music software that comes with Live!
standard. Both are 32-bit cards.

Modems
When the 56K modems came out in 1998,
I upgraded my Supra line, but when I decided to install the Symantec
telecommunications software in one of them, knowing it would require
two modems, I switched to Digicom's Modem Blaster (Rockwell compatible)
Flash56 V90. It was the newest version at the time. The Flash 56 detects
whether I'm connected to K56flex or V90 compatible lines.
